Oral Cancer Screening: Protecting Your health with early detection
Why Oral Cancer Screening Matters
Oral cancer can affect anyone – even those with no obvious risk factors. When caught early, treatment outcomes are significantly better. That’s why our team includes an oral cancer screening as part of your routine dental exam. It’s a simple step that could save your life.
What We Look For
During your screening, we carefully examine your mouth, lips, tongue, throat, and surrounding tissues for any unusual changes such as:
- Persistent sores or red/white patches
- Lumps, thickened areas, or rough spots
- Difficulty swallowing or changes in your bite
Our Screening Process Our office uses both a visual and tactile examination and, when needed, enhanced light technology to help identify abnormal tissues that might not be visible to the naked eye. The process is quick, comfortable, and completely non-invasive.
Who Should Be Screened
Everyone should be screened at least once a year, but especially those who:
- Use tobacco or drink alcohol frequently
- Have a history of HPV or oral cancer
- Spend significant time in the sun
- Are over 40 years old
Your Health Is Our Priority
We believe prevention is the key to lifelong oral and overall health. Regular oral cancer screenings give us the opportunity to detect concerns early and give you peace of mind.
